10 - The number of times, in the last ten years, when India have lost a Test immediately after winning the previous game in the same series. This includes both home and away matches. The table below lists out the instances since 1996 when India have squandered their advantage in the series. It proved costly on two occassions, in 2001 against Sri Lanka and in 2001-02 against West Indies, as India went on to lose the series.

58 - Wickets taken by Makhaya Ntini in this calendar year, the most by any fast bowler, beating Matthew Hoggard's tally of 51. He also has the most five-wicket hauls by a fast bowler, edging past fellow seamer Andre Nel, who has four for the year.

65 - Percentage of deliveries by Ntini bowled short of a length on the final day. He used the short ball to good effect against the Indians, picking up all three wickets on the final day with similar deliveries, including the one that trapped Sachin Tendulkar in front. He conceded three boundaries of these deliveries, all of which were streaky, indicating that the batsmen were never really in control.

35 - Number of wickets taken by Sreesanth in seven Tests so far in his Test career. No other Indian seamer has taken more wickets at the end of seven Tests. The previous record holder was Amar Singh, who had 28 wickets at the same stage in his career.

4 - The number of times Ntini has dismissed Sourav Ganguly in Tests. He has been out caught in all four occasions.

352 - Minutes spent at the crease by VVS Laxman, both innings combined, beating Ashwell Prince's 315-minute stint during the first innings. For India, Wasim Jaffer is at a distant second at 187, indicative that the majority of the Indians were guilty of not spending enough time in the middle.

12 - Number of wins in Durban for South Africa, in 34 matches.
